Manta Network: why Substrate (Polkadot), not Ethereum?

To be, or not to be: that is the question, but not for the Manta Network team!

When the project has only started its way, there were a few issues that should have been solved: low speed, the lack of privacy, and interoperability. Manta Network team has taken that into strong consideration to make the next step and to take the whole DeFi system to an absolutely new level. According to the developers, DeFe should be expanded into a much bigger market that will have better conditions, problem solutions, and privacy terms.

There are few reasons why Manta has chosen to build the system on the Polkadot:

1. To reach a faster running time (with the help of leveraging zk-SNARK, and with that to ensure privacy-preserving transactions on-chain). Despite the fact that the process of verification in a new version of zk-SNARK is cheaper and faster, there were some intensive and taxing nuances on other blockchains. In that way, Substrate utilizes a WASM-based runtime that holds collecting native Rust code to WASM, which is a very efficient solution.
2. Another valuable reason is providing Manta users with the perfect privacy-preserving exchange (DEX) and transacting. A high level of trust in a decentralized system: layer-1 solution that produces all the advantages of a fast protocol. GRANDPA (Polkadot) consensus is truly one of the quickest protocols that are possible.
3. And, at last, interoperability solution. Leveraging Polkadot’s parachain design takes that interoperability to Manta. In that way, it is possible to maintain any parachain assets that will leverage the interface. Manta’s ecosystem is growing from day to day with these new and better resolutions.

Why it is also built on layer-1 (L1)? There are also three reasons for this: it can be completely decentralized, there will be more front-running flexibility, moreover, Manta will become DeFi ready.

Overall, all the effects that were described above, demonstrate a strong positive effect of the Manta Network on the whole DeFi system.
